Dear Genealogical Enthusiast, As you may already know, the Cartographic Research Laboratory at the University of Alabama is compiling an atlas of Alabama cemeteries. Months ago, we sent out a message asking for local experts to review our data. The response has been overwhelming to say the least! We have received so much information that we have extended our original deadline of March 15 to June 15. If you have received a requested county and failed to meet our deadline, you still have plenty of time to submit changes, additions and corrections. If you have not participated in the review process but have an interest in doing so, please email us ([email protected]) with your name, mailing address, and one county of interest to you. We are sorry to have to limit the amount of information we send out, but we are already behind schedule. However, we can send you additional counties after you have reviewed and returned your initial request. And of course, as we are offering this information at no obligation, we would appreciate requests to be of a serious nature only. Though we estimate our atlas to currently be at 600 pages, we still have a great deal of information for some counties and relatively little on others. We would be happy to send you any county that you request, but we are particularly in need of information on the following counties: Baldwin, Barbour, Blount, Bullock, Coffee, Colbert, Crenshaw, Dale, Franklin, Geneva, Greene, Hale, Henry, Houston, Lee, Macon, Monroe, Russell, St. Clair and Tallapoosa.
