There was a college in Tuskegee known as the Alabama Conference Female College (1872-1910). Before it was known by this name, it was known as Tuskegee Female College, chartered in 1854 and sponsored by the Methodist Church. The college was relocated to Montgomery and opened in 1910 as the Women's College of Alabama. The college was renamed again in 1935 and is known today as Huntingdon College. I assume Mary Ann <[email protected]> was referring to the following individual, listed under the Fort Family Cemetery survey, when she asked about ACF College: Davis, Lidie, 5/01/1866 - 10/02/1884 (only Daughter of R.T. & M.C Davis) (Graduated at ACF College, Tuskegee, AL, June 18, 1884) Given the birth, death & graduation date of the above individual, ACF College would certainly fit the time period in which the Alabama Conference Female College was operating in Tuskegee (and the acronym fits, too). I'm not from Tuskegee, nor am I from Alabama, but learned a little about the history of Huntingdon while researching my Alabama ancestors (who were Methodists from Tuskegee). When I saw the question about ACF College, I remembered there had been a female college in Tuskegee at one time. I checked my notes and found the info and thought I would pass it along. I hope it helps! Margaret Ann Mims Moody
