FH=Family History AF= Ancestral File RF=Reference File FHLC=Family History Library Center FS=Samily Search I have been on the phone the past hour trying to find out what programs/files will be available on the new web-site. I have talked to both the FHL and to FHC Support in order to get some information. Some of the people I talked with said they did not know. Others said that information could not be released at this time. I "hit the jackpot" on my last phone call. I talked to a Brother who was able to answer most of my questions. He was in a meeting last weekand received his information directly from the person who is doing the web-site. These are some of the things he could remember about the beta test. It will have only a few things at first. It will begin with the AF and FHLC. Things will be added. They want see what kind of a response they will have. they want to get a count of the number of people who will use the site. They need this information prior to Gen. Conf. in order to make a final decision about going on-line or not. If they decide to have a permanent FH web site, it will be announced at conference. Hello FH Friends, It's 10:30AM in Utah and I just talked to FHC Support about the new web site not being up. They said it was scheduled to go online today, however, they are having a few problems. Just as soon as these problems are cleared up, you will see it. Just keep watching for it. It still could be today or it might be tomorrow. At any rate it will be this week. They are working very hard to get it online today. He couldn't remember for sure if the following will be in the beta test orin the future, but he said the FHLC will have an Author/Title section (for now it is only on fiche) which is good news. I was excited to hear there will be a Reference File, in the future, where you can add your information to AF. It's format will be different from AF. The great thing about it is the fact that you'll be able to leave your notes/sources there. I was told that you will be able to see bothforms (RF & AF) at the same time. With the exception of a couple of things, all of the FS will be on-line in the future. I hope this information is all correct. My source sounded like he knew the facts.
