My name is Mike KELLY and I live on the coast of NC. I am a retired Marine with a great interest in Macon County. My g-g-grandmothers family is from here. My g-g-grandfathers family moved there sometime before the Civil War. His parents stayed there during the war when he and his bride to be's brothers served the Confederacy. I am researching the surnames of MOORE, KELLY, and WALKER from the Tuskegee area. I know that Mr. Edward MOORE (father) married a Mary Ann HENLEY. Dates are unknown. They had Wesley, Micajah (I think pronounced like Micah in the Bible, not sure), Adeline (my g-g-grandmother), Virginia (Gennie), and Lucinda Jane (Lucy). I know Mr. MOORE had a small grocery business in Tuskegee prior to the war. He died in abt. 1852 of pnuemonia. I know the mother with her children left and went to Macon, GA for two years and lived with Edwards brother George. Right before the war they returned to the original farm. After the war both the KELLY and MOORE families left Tuskegee and moved to San Saba, TX in 1868. If any of this connects or you have info on the families I sure would appreciate if you would contact me. Thanx you for all your help and thanx the 'owners' for putting this list together.
