I have posted a long time ago but hope new members may see this. Researching James M. ALLEN, M.D., wife C.O. on 1860 Macon County census. Then we find James M. ALLEN, M.D., wife E. J., on 1870 census living in Auburn, Lee County (which wa formed in 1863 from part of Macon County). 1880 census shows Eleanor G. ALLEN, widowed, with children Charles, Edith, and Zulia, in Loachapoka, Lee County. We have been able to trace Charles and Edith to Walker County, GA, back to Calhoun Co., AL. What happened to Eleanor? Zulia, who was 10 in 1880, married James Norman MASON of Virginia; their son (my grandfather) Norman Phelps MASON was born in Birmingham on 14 Dec 1893.
