Ruffin who married Nancy Nix in Loachapoka, Macon County, in 1857. He died during the Civil War in 1862, leaving behind his widow and two sons, Thomas and John. She remained there until at least 1880, living near her mother, Elizabeth Nix, and brother, James Nix. I believe this son, Thomas, was my grandfather, Thomas Sterling Ruffin. If anyone has information about this family, I would really appreciate hearing from you.
