Surnames: Mounce, Stephens, Peters, West, Robertson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/QS.2ADE/882.1.3 Message Board Post: The Mounce family came to Macon County in the 1850s and settled at Cotton Valley. My GGGrandfather and Grandmother Mounce are buried at the Fort Family Cemetery at Cotton Valley along with two of their grandchildren. All have tombstones there. Their son Virgil Mounce moved to Tuskegee in the late 1870s where they lived before moving to Birmingham. Virgil and his wife Mary Cofield had 9 children and 6 or 7 of them died before their move to Birmingham. I was hoping they may have been buried in Tuskegee. I do not know what their religeous belief was, so no help here. I do know they were close to the Perry family as I have a copy of a letter written in 1885 mentioning a member of the Perry family.
