My GGGrandfather William N. MOUNCE came to Macon County in the 1840s with his wife Mary BROOME MOUNCE and their children Jane E. MOUNCE (married Henry WEST), Jemima Belle Mounce (married James D. STEPHENS), Louanna Belle MOUNCE (married W.H.C. ELLINGTON), Amy MOUNCE (married James Monroe PETERS), Fletcher Celestia MOUNCE (married William Edwin ROBERTSON), Virgil A.S. MOUNCE (married Mary COFIELD), Otis Smith MOUNCE (married Nancy Margaret TRAMMMELL). Burrell B. MOUNCE (died in Civil War). William N. MOUNCE and his wife Mary BROOME MOUNCE are buried in the Fort Family Cemetery at Cotton Valley, Macon County along with some of their grandchildren (chldren of Virgil and Mary COFIELD MOUNCE). All of William and Mary's children left Macon County by 1880. Billy Hightower
