David - Lee County (and Bullock) were both created from Macon Co.--I believe--in 1868. Very possibly the William Lee shown in Lee County is the one you've been looking for when the district was in Macon; Auburn is now the county seat of Lee County. In my own research, I have found some family lines that began in Macon, but in later census record appear in "new" neighboring counties, due to redistricting. Annette
