LESLIE b. 1816, Fayetteville Dist., NC, married Jane McCASKILL b. 1817 in Kershaw District, SC, daughter of John D. McCASKILL and Catherine CHISHOLM, both born Isle of Skye, Scotland. John and Jane McCASKILL LESLIE were among the founding members of Union Springs Presbyterian Church in 1853. Children of John & Jane McCASILL LESLIE, all born in Union Springs: 1. Alexander b. 1845 served in CSA, moved to Morrisonville, IL, married Kate GOERN b. Austria. 2. Catherine LESLIE b. 1847 - no further info. 3 & 4. Martha (Mattie) and Ella Jane b. 1849 & 1852 never married. 5. John D. LESLIE, Jr. b. 1853 married Mary Lula RABORN b. 1853 in SC, daughter of Benjamin Lovelace RABORN and Charlotte McDANIEL of Edgefield, SC. 6. Edward W. LESLIE b. 1856 married Lela (Unknown.) Lela may have been from Lakeland, Fl. She was buried there and later re-interred with Edward at Oak Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, AL. 7.
