I think I called this to your attention before... In the will you have posted for William K. Harris, the last paragraph reads: By the first of January Ninth I promise to pay Wm M B Fitzpatrick or bearer Three hundred & fifty dollars for hire of two slaves named Joe and Pep during the year 1860 & furnish each of them two summers & one winter suits, two pair of shoes, hat & blanket. Wm Fitzpatrick to pay physicians bids. I am 99% certain that the person referred to as "Wm M B Fitzpatrick" is actually Mrs. M. B. Fitzpatrick. Mrs. Mary B. Fitzpatrick acquired a lot of slaves in Macon (various sources) and no-doubt made a transaction with William Harris. I do not know this for sure, but further research into the Harris holdings might bear this out. It is my suspition that whoever transcribed this document mixed up "W" with "M"... which was easy to do in the handwritting of that time... If you ever have access to the original document--as it was written, not a transcription--I would check this out and correct the one that appears on your web site. Annette McLane

    3. First of all, Delilah, thank for that tip to look in Eagle Creek cemetery....I'd never have known that about Tuskegee people being buried there. I don't think I have Freemans in my line, but allied names in my VA>GA>AL family would be Harper, Fitzpatrick, Allen, Harwell, Jones, Marquis. Secondly, Shirley, I'll put your John Clark(e) Tomlin on my list and let you know what I find in the cemeteries that Perry has transcribed. I also plan to list the cemeteries from his book on the list. Lastly, does anyone with knowledge of post CW Macon county think it's probable that my ancestors might have had unmarked graves? I have reason to think that they were poor after the Civil War (my grandpa remembers playing with trunkfuls of Confederate dollars as a boy). The one stone that is in Tuskegee City Cemetery, of my ggggm who died in 1873, is very modest, tho she was rich before the CW. Also wondering of there were any reasons (religious?) a person back then could choose to be in an unmarked grave. Any insights and theories appreciated...... Polly

    3. You know something, Polly, all that worthless Confederate money your grandfather played with is probably worth quite a bit as a collector's item. One man I know held on to what his father passed on to him for a long time then he burned it and after he did found out he burned a small fortune. 3. I am looking for a John Clark(e) Tomlin. My ggrandparents, John Clark(e) Tomlin and Roxie Catherine Jackson were married in MontgomeryCounty in 1879 and were censused there in 1880. My grandfather, Roy Laitten Tomlin, was born in 1881 and his father died when he was a small boy. Roxie remarried in the home of her father Isaac Jackson in Macon County in 1888. Therefore I am not sure if John died in Montgomery or Macon County. Her father was a plantation overseer and he was also in Montgomery County in 1880 I have a feeling John Tomlin worked for him, Isaac and his brood all came to Texas about 1890. His wife, Missouri died before coming to Texas so she might also be buried in either Montgomery or Macon County. Appreciate any help if you find anything. 2. Many of the churches in Macon County have their own individual cemeteries. Do you know what church they attended? I have kept my parents' home in Elmore County (about 15 miles from Tuskegee) and get down a couple of times a year. I might be able to do some checking for you if you have any idea of the name of the church. Suzanne Anthony Gorey
