    3. I saw the message from a list member who wanted info about a land transaction in 1845. I have a Macon Cty. deed index and some deed books on permanent loan at the LDS library near me. If you give me names of the people, and any dates, you are trying to find out about (be as specific as possible) I would be willing to try to track this for you next time I visit the LDS. Please include surnames of wives, or any other closely related families. Unfortunately, I don't have a reverse index (tho one exists).....the one I have is listed by Grantors and your family would be Grantees, but dates (month/day especially) would help me to pinpoint. Polly

Am trying to find parents of my great-great grandmother Emma Felder Moseley, b. 1845-1848. Story handed down in the family is that Emma came to Barnwell, SC from Alabama at the age of 16 to teach school after the death of her father and brothers in the Civil War. Trouble is, the dates don't match. Later census info states she was born in SC, but may be incorrect. So far, have not been able to tie her to any of the descendants of John Henry Felder, the Swiss emigrant to Orangeburg, SC in 1735, who remained in SC. Thank you, Lynda Moseley Barnwell, SC

    3. Seeking information regarding William Foster, born in Ga. about 1808. Lived in Macon County from at least 1850 til his death sometime after 1870, but before the 1880 census. He married Ann E. ??? who was also born in Ga. They had children John , who married Sally Brannon, and other sons William and Henry. There was also a daughter Ann. William was listed as Col. Wm. Foster in the 1860 census. I think that daughter Ann married someone with the surname LEWIS. Please reply if any of these names are familiar to you. Thanks!

    1. [ALMacon] LAND RECORDS
    2. Hi, In 1845, my ancestors sold 160 acres of land in Macon County, Alabama. I have a copy of the sale which gives the land description. It is recorded at the courthouse in Tuskegee. Since I haven't found a Land Patent for this property in the Bureau of Land Management database, I am thinking my ancestors may have inherited it, but if they did, I have not yet located a Will. I don't know who their parents or siblings were. I would like to know when and how my ancestors gained ownership of this land, so if anyone would offer suggestions on where I need to search to find this information, I would appreciate it very much. Regards,

    3. No, I'm sorry. The only Henry I know about is my greatgrandmother Emma Henry who married M. N. Brown apparently in Alabama. Their grandson, Samuel Henry Brown, was my paternal grandfather. He married Maudie Elizabeth Marshall in Tyler County, TX in 1903. My father, Jimmie Henry Brown, was their first child. They had a total of 12. That is all I know. I am trying to find out more about Emma.
