Carol, Thanks for this information. Does it give the first name of the female Stiggins who moved her letter in 1835? The "reference to brother and sister" is very confusing. I wonder what that meant? It was very kind of you to send this information. Good luck with your CARR research. Evelyn
I have the Stiggins name listed in a book on the Cubahatchee Baptist Church of Christ 1838-1850. The Stiggins names listed are Ann, Elizabeth, Nancy, Sarah, with a reference to brother and sister but without the actual names listed. The oldest Stiggins name in this book is from a letter of dismission from The Baptist Church of Christ at Rehoboth (?) moving her letter to Cubahatchee dated 3-7-1835. My family the Carr family moved their letter to help form the Ebenezer Baptist Church of Christ which was to be closer to their home. I too am looking for information on the Carr family linked to this church. I'm not sure of the correct spelling, but the records we have for the burial place of George STIGGINS was spelled Cubihatchee. Is is supposed to be Cuba-hatchee? Tom, I too have relatives linked to the Cubahatchee Baptist Church of Christ. There is a book which I have a copy of with the history of the church from 1838-1850. It was written by William Thomas Martin III of 4501 SW 62 Court, Miami, FL 33155-5936. I do not remember how much the book cost but I bought this one about two years ago. The Jones names listed are, Anna, Evan, Fanny, James, John, Jno, Martha, W.B.,Rev.,and A.T.M. I hope this information helps. Hi, I am researching the family of John JONES, Jr., born about 1805 in North Carolina, who moved to Macon County, Alabama in the 1830s. John and his wife Martha Ann ___, were married around 1835. I have an old letter from 1855, that shows they lived in the "Leubakatche" area, of Macon County. Does anyone know where this was? GOOGLE does not pick up this place name. John and Martha JONES had ten children as follows: Charlotte H. JONES b: abt 1839-1840 Lucelin JONES (female) b: Abt 1843 Mary Francis "Fanny" JONES b: Abt 1845 Jane JONES b: Abt 1847 Catherine "Kity" W. JONES b: Abt 1847 Stephen JONES b: Abt 1849 .......... +Sally b: 1855 Margaret JONES b: Abt 1851 John E. JONES b: Abt 1854 Martha B. JONES b: Abt 1859 Ann Lee JONES b: Abt 1862 My primary research goal is to identify who these eight daughters married, if they rearched adulthood. I was reading Mr. Caver's generous posting of death notices and noticed the reference to "the prairies" in one of the obits (for FITZPATRICK.) I have run across notes referring to "the prairies" in early Alabama histories numerous times and wondered exactly where the prairies were located. I assumed they must have been south of Montgomery and perhaps in adjoining portions of Macon County and maybe even Pike County. Some of my ancestors from Macon County are buried in a small family cemetery off Pike Road, below Montgomery. We have no connections to the family whose land they are buried on. I was told the reason they were buried there may have been because they lived "down on the prairies" and in the winter the ground was so frozen and hard they could not bury on it. Does anyone know where the prairies were actually located? Thanks! Evelyn Leslie

It includes a great number of them, but by no means all... Of particular note, this popular and useful resource publication does not include listings of the two largest "colored" cemetaries in the County; and, there many small private family plots and rural church plots that are "missing". So, a negative reply to your query does not mean that persons you are looking for are not buried in the county somewhere. Annette (just returning home from Macon Co.)
