    3. This message is being posted on all the Maryland Co. and regional lists that I find. Hoping that there is some information out there. Please forgive me if this does not pertain to your particular region, but I do not know where this Daffin came from originally. Please reply by email to < [email protected] > as I do not subscribe to all lists. ************** In researching my family history, I can get no further back than my g-g- grandfather, THOMAS J. DAFFIN, abt. 1817-abt. 1863. Our Daffin family lived in Talbot and Caroline Counties, Md. There are plenty of other Daffins earlier than 1817 in these counties and also in St. Mary's Co., Md. One of prominence was a THOMAS B. DAFFIN who married REBECCA DICKINSON in 1797. They lived in Caroline Co., Md. Rebecca died in 1812. Thomas B. died in 1816. Here is my QUESTION: Who is the "THOMAS DAFFIN m. SARA SMITH, 1816, Caroline Co."? Could this possibly be the Thomas B. Daffin that died that year and did they actually marry. If they did could they have had a son (my g-ggrandfather). Thos. B. could have died before he was born. Does anybody have any other information concerning this marriage? Thank you, Richard Largaespada Chicago, Il. [email protected] Researching DAFFIN...any other info welcome. Please, if replying, do so by email to <[email protected]>

    3. Hi Rooters, This is a little off the normal roots subject but I feel it will be helpful to all those people that aren't able to get to a major library or National Archives. The granny's are a group of elderly ladies that look up genealogy for others, for as little as $2.50. They go to the National Archives in Denver, or the Denver Public Library almost everyday of the week. It keeps them busy and they enjoy helping others. The monies they get they either spend on lunches or parking or purchasing CD's or microfiche to continue with their research. I first sent a letter for them to the NYC root-l mailing list and they got quite a response. We also had other retired folks expressing their interest in helping with the on going tasks, so we are extending their help to others. My name is Jim, and I am one of the granny's sons. I do the computer work for them. If your looking for some help, give these ladies a try. They will do you a good job. We are looking for other retired folks around the country that would like to participate with the granny's in their local research. Local directories are a great source for finding people and the grannies get a lot of requests of that nature. I have set them up this E-mail address of [email protected] on my account. Sincerely, Jim (the cheap labor for the granny's---haha) but glad to help.

    2. The Kelly's
    3. My name is Mike KELLY and I live on the coast of NC. I am a retired Marine with a great interest in Macon County. My g-g-grandmothers family is from here. My g-g-grandfathers family moved there sometime before the Civil War. His parents stayed there during the war when he and his bride to be's brothers served the Confederacy. I am researching the surnames of MOORE, KELLY, and WALKER from the Tuskegee area. I know that Mr. Edward MOORE (father) married a Mary Ann HENLEY. Dates are unknown. They had Wesley, Micajah (I think pronounced like Micah in the Bible, not sure), Adeline (my g-g-grandmother), Virginia (Gennie), and Lucinda Jane (Lucy). I know Mr. MOORE had a small grocery business in Tuskegee prior to the war. He died in abt. 1852 of pnuemonia. I know the mother with her children left and went to Macon, GA for two years and lived with Edwards brother George. Right before the war they returned to the original farm. After the war both the KELLY and MOORE families left Tuskegee and moved to San Saba, TX in 1868. If any of this connects or you have info on the families I sure would appreciate if you would contact me. Thanx you for all your help and thanx the 'owners' for putting this list together.
