    1. Surname KROUSE/AUSTIN/PATRICK
    2. Hello, I am posting this to several lists in hopes of getting some leads. I am hoping that someone out there can give me some clues for researching the surname KROUSE. I have John Krouse, b. perhaps around 1840's. Place of birth is unknown, but possibly MD or VA (according to family lore). At a point is time, John Krouse traveled to AL, where he had a child with Rosetta AUSTIN. The mulatto child, my grandfather, b. 1860s or later, was named Johnnie Henry Krouse. Rosetta and her son, Johnnie, lived in Tensaw, AL (Baldwin Co.) near Mobile. Rosetta was probably a slave up until emancipation in 1865, around the time of my grandfather's birth. Rosetta's mother's name was Molly PATRICK, also a slave. As an adult, Johnnie Henry lived in Pritchard and Mobile (Mobile Co.). Johnnie Henry had a younger sister, Fannie Mae. I do not know if John Krouse was her father...I think not. John Krouse probably did not live with Rosetta and may not even have remained in AL for very long. It seems I heard that John Krouse did have a wife, who may have lived with him in the Mobile area. I am seeking any information about these people: Where was John Krouse from? Is his family found in any German community? Where? Did the family have Austin or Patrick neighbors? What might John Krouse's occupation have been such that it led him to AL? Where did he migrate to after living in AL? Where was Rosetta born? Did Rosetta eventually marry someone named Austin, who was the father of Fannie Mae? What is Molly's story? Do "Molly" and "Rosetta" appear together on any Krouse/Austin/Patrick slave listings. I have poked around with these fragments for several months, not finding anything substantive. I have been fortunate to find considerable assistance through internet contacts with some of my other surnames. I hope someone can help to get a foot-hold into this particular line of research. Thanks you, Annette Krouse McLane Washington, DC

    1. Who's responsibility is it anyway.
    2. Everyone loves to get their family info. They say thanks to those that do all the leg work. Now, having said that. If each of us would just take the time to transcribe a will, a portion of the census, scan old documents then before long all our info would be online. My challenge is to each and everyone of you to submit what you have. Let me share a little story. I put up my 3rd greatgrandfather's will on the Alabama Genweb site and within 3 weeks I received through the mail 110 pages ofn John P. Glover's mother and family. I did not even know her name. I took that info and I then transcribed it and put it up on the web. Again I have now connected to a different line and they have loads of info. Without me putting up that will I would still be here digging and digging. It is our responsibility each and everyone to put up this info. I even get copies of records that have absolutely nothing to do with me. So let's roll up our sleeves and just do it. Margie

    1. Denton and related families
    2. Sue Cook
    3. Hi! I thought I would let y'all know that I have a lot of Alabama families represented in my database at my web site for the Denton and related families. There are over 15,000 people in the database, plus a lot of other information on the site. If any of you have Dentons in your lines, I would love to hear from you! There are also some down-loadable gedcom files for families other than Denton that I have in my at-home database, such as Hunt, Moore, Plumlee, Cooper, Chastain, O'Dell, French, Shipman, Baker and Huff. All of these families intersect in some way with the Dentons, but have a great deal more information in the individual gedcoms than is on the database at the site. There is a lot of other information on the site as well that you might find interesting, as well. The address is: http://www.acun.com/dentons I hope you find something of value! Blessings! 3. Hi all...well I figure some of you already got this post since you belong to RAN-CLAY but, thought I ought to post here in case others only belong to this list. In my grubby fat little hands NARA, for a slight fee, has graciously rented me the 1840 Macon County, AL Census. There are 11,500 souls listed in the county that year. As most of you know it is listed by head of household only but, I make no promises ...based upon my work and school schedule I can do lookups for you. There are three KELL(E)Y's listed. A William O'KELY (spelled that way), a Joh KELLEY and family and lastly an R. KELLY by himself. If wither of these gentleman connect let me know I have the particulars on them. Again, no promises about the lookups when and where. I will try to do bmy best. Give me the surnames you are interested in. If there is a given name that too..... Take care....Mike Kelly [email protected]
