    1. Gracious Hosts,Thank You
    2. To John & Jan Radford Thanks so much for hosting the lists and giving all of us subscribers an opportunity to find each other and share what we have. You and Rootsweb have done us all a service that we are starting to take for granted. It is mindboggling to me how this thing has grown in the last year or so since I subscribed to my first list. I am now paying attention to what it has cost some of you in time and dollars and plan to send a thank you to Rootsweb which includes a small check that we can afford. Hope some others will think about it, also. Thank you very much - you are true "pioneers of the internet", just as the pioneers in our family histories that we seek and often find through the avenues you have provided. Evelyn and Ed Leslie

    3. Does anyone know about minutes from Baptist Church in Tuskegee Methodist Church in Tuskegee My ancestors were Evalena Louisa Marshall (born Macon Co 1840-died Atlanta , GA 1891) wife of William Calloway Barnett (born Perry Co, AL 1829-died island No. 10 in Civil War 1862) Louisa Married Benjamin Blakely Welch in Shelby Co, AL 1865 Louisa's mother was Elizabeth Ann (thought to be Townsend) born in SC in 1812. Believe Louisa's father was William Marshall of Abbeville, SC and Macon Co, AL who was dead by 1848. Louisa had a sister, Martha Maria who married Jack Shackelford Cameron in 1846 in Macon Co. I have inherited turn of the century pictures of both the Baptist and Methodist churches of Tuskege. I suspect some of my family must have had an interest in these two churches or the pictures would not be in my possession. Any ideas on the people or the churches would be appreciated. If this page of photos gets going, I would be happy to share them. Thanks, Mic Mic Barnette's Writes a Weekly Genealogy Column In The Houston Chronicle. 1. Web Photo Project
    2. Delbra Barr
    3. Hello everyone. This is where things are standing with the POSSIBLE Old Photos Project that was discussed last week. I am glad to see there were sooooo many people interested in seeing a project like this get off the ground. I am not saying I am the one to make it happen, but at this time, I am willing to be the coordinator or mediator of information. This is the summary of e-mails I received and so posted of this project to date: Caring for photos: http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/aic/treasure/photos.html http://archival.gaylord.com/TECHNICA/MARKIN.htm Possible providers for viewing new or existing photos web page: Rootsweb Server - [email protected] www.gentime.com/genealogy/index.html http://drum.ncat.edu/~val/ Present sites with Photos availabel: www.geneagraphx.com/leaves.htm Scanning of photos for printing purposes: [email protected] My present suggestions: 1. I believe the service should be coordinated in a way that people will go to STATE/COUNTY/YEAR TIME FRAME/ and SUBJECT MATTER Types of Subject Matter: Military, school, family gatherings, Hard at work photos, surname and holder of Photo and even Special Events for that time era. etc. Sometimes the holder of the photo may be someone your trying to find because your party had a connection with their, etc. I don't believe they should be sorted out by culture. That would make viewing and sorting them VERY DIFFICULT and a lot of work. At this time, before anything else is done, I would like to know those who would be interested in mainting the site for their STATE AND COUNTY. The subject could be decided upon later. Before such a thing could exist, there would need to be great number of people involved. Definitley not someone from every state, but at least a couple from the souther states like GA, FL, ALA, and even a couple that someone could convince us should be done. I appologize for such the long message, but I am doing my best to give thanks to those of you who really were interested in this project and even volunteered to assist. I look to hear from you soon. delbra I look to hear from you soon. delbra

    2. I am researching MOORE surname from Warrior Stand, Macon Co., AL. However, at this time I've not been able to prove the Native American ancestry that has been part of our oral family history.... Also not sure if the Indian ancestry is through my great-great grandfather, Pinkney MOORE, or his wife, Sallie (maiden name unknown!). A photo of their daughter, Carry Eva, taken when she was an elderly woman would seem to confirm.... Regards, Dana L. What happens to these records and are they public knowledge. wledge.

According to the 1880, 1900 census, there was listed a Sasherlee Cope in the home of her father "Peter Cope". Well after much hard work, I finally determined this Sasherlee was in fact my grandmother's mother "Elizabeth Frances Cope" I don't know why she chose to spell it COOPE or who was she named for.
