    2. Hi, I know JOHNSON is about as common as Smith, but since you listed it as a Macon Co name, I've gotta ask if you know anything about Adeline JOHNSON (possibly "B.A. JOHNSON"). She was my GGF (William A. "Gus" BRYANT)'s first wife, and they were married in Macon Co on November 16, 1865. She was born October 17, 1843, and died April 29, 1878 . <-- those dates are from her grave stone at Salem Baptist. The stone refers to her as "B.A.", marriage record lists her as Adeline. I have lots on these BRYANTs, but don't know where Adeline came from. - Jeff Bryant

ALLEN, M.D. m. Caroline O. BURFORD on 23 Nov. 1856 in Macon Co., then married Eleanor G.WILLIAMS on 24 Jan. 1867. James and Caroline are on the 1860 Macon County, Auburn, census with children Carrie, age 2, and Julia, age 1 month. They are residing next door to James's parents, James and Elizabeth ALLEN and children Carrie, age 21, George, age 20, Robert, age 16. James (the elder) and his family are also on the 1850 census for Macon County. On the 1870 census, we find J. M.ALLEN, medical doctor, and E. J., age 22, in Loachapoka, now LEE county, with children M.W., age 5 or 6, B.W., age 2, and Z., age 2 months. The "Z" is my g-grandmother, Zulia, who married James Norman MASON and had my grandfather, Norman Phelps MASON in B'ham on 14 Dec. 1893. 1880 Census shows Eleanor ALLEN, widowed, living with children Charles (W.), Edith, and Zula in Loachapoka, farming. Does anyone know what happened to James M. ALLEN, MD? There was a cholera epidemic in B'ham in 1873 or so; I wonder whether he died during that period. Any info, especially about Zulia and James Norman MASON would be appreciated. Where were they married. When and how did she die? We are trying desperately to find James MASON's parents - who were they? They were both born in VA as was he,according to census records. He had sisters Ella and Martha. HELP.
