Joseph is the son of John Roper (fought Amer. Rev) and Sarah Fincher. They lived in Mecklenburg Co, North Carolina and then moved to GA. Children: 1.Rev. John Thomas Roper (3/30/1810 York Co, SC - 5/30/1885 Montgomery Co, AL) He married Elizabeth C Estes in Gwinnett Co, GA on 3/17/1831. He was an ordained minister in the Methodist Episcopal Church 6/2/1839 Mont., Al. He lived in Autauga Co between 1856 and 1869. His wife died in Prattville 4/18/1890 at her daughter's house, Eliza White. They had 7 children. 2. Rev James Roper b. abt 1803 - d. aft 1870. He married 1. Elizabeth and 2. Martha Bartley 3. Rev Joseph Fletcher married Louisa Guy nee Bird after the death of Margaret McEwen in 1831. It was an unhappy marriage (1850 AL)
