Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/JS.2ADE/714.1 Message Board Post: Susan Sawyer is in the 1860 US Census with Elizabeth Sawyer McQueen and her husband, Samuel. Elizabeth is 50 and Susan is 25. Elizabeth was born in SC and Susan in AL. A couple of pages after that is Thomas Sawyer, age 57, also born in SC and his wife, Margaret Johnston who were married on May 16, 1832, marriage records book 1, page 45, married by A. Hall, JP. It makes me wonder about Susan and Elizabeth being sisters. What evidence do you have that Susan is a sister and not a niece? I found no marriage record in Lowndes County for Susan. There was a Sallie M. who married William Wiley, the marriage bond being signed by Thomas J. Sawyer. Thomas had a daughter in the 1860 US Census named Sarah and Sallie was a common nickname for Sarah. I checked the 1870 US census and my limited cemetery listings and did not find Susan Sawyer. Sorry
