Don, Vincint Thomas Hawkins, son of William Hawkins and Sarah Adams, was born Aug. 21, 1831 and died June 8, 1921 according to his tombstone in the Myrtlewood Cemetery, Fort Deposit, Lowndes County, Alabama. Buried in the same area are: Charlotte Ida Hawkins, b. Jan. 21, 1869, d. Mar. 16, 1940 Ludie Hawkins, b. Mar 16, 1871, d. Oct. 26, 1905, daughter of V. T. & J. G. Hawkins G. E. Hawkins, b. Mar. 24, 1860, d. Apr. 2, 1905 Leila Black (born Lela A. Hawkins, daughter of V. T. & J. G. Hawkins) born Apr. 11, 1866 died Dec. 2, 1940 W. J. Black, b. Nov. 7, 1863, d. Oct. 2, 1932 (married Lela A. Hawkins on Apr. 4, 1889 per Lowndes county marriage records) Census records also show a son, Vincent Thomas, Jr. born about 1863. Daughter Frances A. Hawkins, born Oct. 22, 1855, died Aug. 8, 1867, is buried in Hopewell Cemetery. 1870 US Census, Lowndes Co., AL, Braggs Beat, family #114 V. T. Hawkins, age 38, male, born in AL, a farmer J. G. Hawkins, age 40, female, born in AL G. E. Hawkins, age 9, male, born in AL V. T. Hawkins, age 7, male, born in AL Baby Hawkins, age 4, female, born in AL (this would be Lela A.) C. D. (Ida) Hawkins, age 1, female, born in AL W. H. Conner, age 28, male, born in AL E. M. Conner, age 18, female, born in AL Frances Conner, age 1, female, born in AL William Henry Conner married Matilda E. Couey on Sept. 11, 1868. Matilda was the daughter of John E. Couey and Matilda McFerrin, Jane G. McFerrin Hawkin's sister. Jane G. McFerrin was the daughter of John and Margaret McFerrin. If you want more on this McFerrin family, just ask. Jane and Vincent Thomas Hawkins were married on Jan. 14, 1853, married by F. W. Moodie, MG, Lowndes County Marriage book 2, page 161. William Hawkins was the son of Thomas Hawkins. William had a twin brother, Wiley B. who lived in Butler Co. Sarah Adams Hawkins was a daughter of John and Mary "Polly" Adams of Lowndes County. Sarah died before 1837. You can see a copy of John Adams will, I believe, at www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/al/lowndes.htm. Sarah is named in the will. In John Adams' estate records, Sarah has since died and it names her heirs.
