Posey, age 25, male, born in AL, a clerk, John Mastingale, age 50, male, born in NC, a clerk, and Julius Lester, age 21, male, born in AL, a grocer. These names may be significant, but at the time, the three men with G. A. Thigpen were probably employees. Also listed in the 1860 US Census, Lowndes Co., was Jobe Thigpen, a male, age 31, born in AL, a physician and Martha Thigpen, age 17, born in AL. She may be his wife or his sister. May 18, 1917 This is all I have on the Thigpens in Lowndes County at this time. This name pops up from time to time and catches my eye because I have Thigpens in my family from Georgia. I haven't found a connection to me in Lowndes through the Thigpens. I have absolutely nothing on G. A. Thigpen other than the 1860 census.
