    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Caldwell, Arnold Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JS.2ADE/700 Message Board Post: Seeking information regarding whereabouts of Spencer L. (S. L.) Caldwell and spouse Mary Ann. They are listed on the 1850 Lowndes Co., AL census with their new daughter Sophronia and Mary Ann's son by her first marriage Steth M. Carter. The family reappears in McMinn Co., TN on the 1880 census but I am unable to account for them from 1850-1880. A S. L. Caldwell is listed as a Pvt. in the Alabama State Reserves which may account for his disappearance circa 1860 but I am unable to locate any info regarding this enlistment or service. Mary Ann's maiden name is Arnold and she may have been living with friends and/or relatives in either Lowndes Co., AL. All of their children are indicated as having been born in AL which places them their until at least 1866 (youngest child is 14 in 1880 census). Their children are: Sophronia born Oct 1849 Spivy (S. S.) born July 1853, Buchanan born 1857, Ida born 1859, Ella born 1861, Callie born 1863, Julia born 1866. Sophronia died as a child in Gordonville, Lowdnes Co., AL Oct 1855 and is buried in Gordonville cemetery. Spencer L. was born in GA (his father was born in NC and mother in GA) Mary Ann Arnold was born in TN. Would also like marriage info for Spencer L. Caldwell and Mary A. Carter/Arnold. Believe they were married in Lowdnes Co.
