I live in Belzoni, MS and my husband's grandfather was James Mansel McCall who was born in MS; however, his Uncle Hugh B. McCall lived in Lowndes Co., AL. I have quite a bit of information on the McCall's who settled in Mississippi. Most of my information has come from a journal written by a John Gullage who married Nancy McCall. I will be glad to share any information I have with you. Melba mhal@belzonicable.com

Harrison was the son of George Harrison. In 1850, he is listed with his father and his father's wife, Caroline, age 38. George was 17. Caroline could be his mother, but there were some age gaps between children that makes me suspect that Caroline was a second wife. Maybe not. They were from the Sandy Ridge.area. Caroline is buried in the Sawyer Cemetery. George W. and Emaline also are in the 1860 and 1880 census. I do not know where George's father is buried, but his second (third?) wife, Frances F. E. Webb Harrison is also buried in the Sawyer cemetery along with George's sister, Mattie and a half nephew, son of Willie Lou Harrison and Montgomery Rowe. Willie was a child of George (Sr.) and Frances. Contact me directly if you want more.

Harrison was the son of Pascal Harrison and his wife, Elizabeth Phillips. Milton had the following siblings: Alfred, Benjamin, Jane Phillips, Mary E. and James. This James is listed in the 1850 US Census living with Elizabeth Harrison, age 60, born in GA, Alfred, age 41, born in GA, Mrs. Mary E. Lathrop, age 30, born in GA with her daughter, Mary E. Lathrop, age 10, born in GA. James is 28, born in AL and Mary had married James B. Lathrop in 1838. If this is the same James who married America, then she died or for some reason isn't there. The marriage record for James and America Moss is not in the marriage books in Lowndes County (I have them transcribed into my computer - I went page by page and transcribed them, took years) A will in Will Book C, page 11 is for J. N. Harrison. He leaves everything to his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Harrison, except a watch which he leaves to Moses J. Harrison. This is a puzzle. This will was dated Sept 8, 1861 and proved Dec 1, 1862. J. N. died in the Civil War. Sterling Moss in 1850 is listed on page 106, age 47, born in GA, with wife Sidney W., age 43, born in GA, son Henry L (S?), age 20, son Thomas N., age 16, daughter Mary E, age 14, and daughter Martha F., age 12, all born in AL. Sterling, Sidney, Mary E. and Martha are also in the 1860 census. Sterling died in 1863 and Sidney in 1862, buried in the Gordonsville Cemetery

George Watson Harrison was the son of George Harrison Jr. (born 30 Dec 1800 in SC) and Caroline Sue Watson (died 1852). He remarried 23 Dec 1856 in Lowndes Co. to Frances E Webb. I am looking for the parents of my ancestor, Mary Ellefair (or Elifair or Ellifair or Ellafair or Ellyfair) Ailene (or Adline or Adalaide or Alleice) Finklea (or Finklia or Finkley). She married Thomas G. (possibly Godfrey) Burfitt (or Burfit or Burfet or Burfoot or Barfoot or Barfelt). I believe they were married in 1850 or before. According to census records, Ellefair was born between 1830 and 1835. Thomas G. Burfitt was assumed killed in the War Between the States as per his military records. What other areas or records could I search!?! Any information on the Burfitt or Finklea families of Butler, Covington, Monroe, Lowndes or Dallas counties in Alabama would be very greatly appreciated! I got this info from Malcolm Dow and was wrong about whose family Francis Marion was in. I confused the issue because there are two Francis Marions in the Isaac Davis family also. Did Malcolm tell you that I think John (T) Davis descends from old Thomas Davis? I have no proof but old Thomas did have sons that were not identified in the 1840 census. I have searched and searched for a document--no luck! I am interested in the Royal children also as Hardy and Nancy Royal left or died in Lowndes Co and some of the children I never found. We also need more research on my line Sarah Davis who mrd Jesse Davis. Also more on Malcey and Henry! Any ideas? Irma

Davis I am referring to is the son of Malcey Davis and Henery J. Davis who moved to Ark.before 1860. They are listed on the 1860 census of Laffayette Co. Ark. The Frances Marion Davis you refer to was never a member of John T. Davis's family. I have extentive research on John T. Davis's family, my GG grandfather. I also notice the initials were not the same. What I am trying to find out is why Frances M. Davis was appointed guarding of the Royal children. I do not know which Royal family the children belong to. I do not connect to Malcy & Henry. We once thought John T. was a son of Sampson Davis, but have not been able to prove, that would make him a brother to Malcey. Frances M. & John T. are related some way. William Lynn Davis son of John T. Davis singed the Will of Frances M. Davis. Both families moved from Lowndes Co. to Miller Co. Ar. around 1860. Thanks, Billy

Do you know of one? The typewritten copy I have is straight from the Will book C in Lowndes County. That is the only copy I know of at the courthouse. Unfortunately, as I stated, the courthouse has typed some of these wills in Will book C and replaced the pages with these typewritten copies. This was done many, many years ago. So, if you know how I can get a copy of the original will, I would be grateful to get one.
