Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/JS.2ADE/391.500.1.2 Message Board Post: Melba, I don't know why I did not respond earlier. I went through the census records and found Hugh B. McCall as you stated on page 165B of the 1850 Census. He was 68 at the time and with him were Mary A. his wife, age 58, James D., his son, age 24, Elizabeth A(nn) wife of James D, age 22., and Rebecca Rugeley, age 21. Elizabeth Ann McCall died on July 22, 1880 and is buried in the Oakview Cemetery, Lowndesboro, Lowndes Co., AL. It seems that James D. died before 1880 as he is not in the census for that year. Now, there was a different Hugh McCall in Lowndes County before Hugh B. What is interesting is he was Hugh B. as well and his wife was Mary. This other Hugh B. died sometime between Sept. 1838 and Apr. 1839 as that are the dates his will was written and proved, respectively. He was born between 1780 and 1790 from the 1830 US Census. I do not know where he was born, but his mother, Nelly, was named in his will. Mary and some of their children are in the 1850 US ! Census on page 164, not that far from Hugh B and his family. Interesting. That is about all I have. Sorry I haven't been more help.

And Alexander Jr.'s son is Hugh McCall, born in North Carolina, and migrated to Dale County, Al. Hugh McCall of Dale County, Al is my great great grandfather. I am still trying to put all the pieces together, but have found the McCall's on the census records for Dale, Barbour, Lowndes, & Limestone Counties for Alabama. Please let me know if you have any information on your Hugh B. McCall's father, siblings, etc. I suspect they migrated to Alabama from North Carolina. Thank you for your assistance!! So there will be no court documents for these families in Lowndes County before 1830. Lowndes was formed from Butler (their courthouse burned in 1853 so no luck there), Dallas and Montgomery Counties. That does not mean people weren't there before 1830, just that finding information will mean going to those other counties. I have in my data base that George Jacob Salley and Benjamin F. Salley were in Lowndes County in the 1860 US Census. There were no Sally//Salley families in the 1850 US Census or the 1830 US Census. You will need to be more specific about Jones families as they are numerous. Who are you looking for? Did not find any Friday families in 1830 or 1850 either

Peake does not show up in the census records for 1870 or 1880, but Ann, as she was listed, was there with children. John S. Peake married Sarah "Sallie" Elizabeth Bowie on July 10, 1860. Among their children was J. Bowie Peake, born about 1868 in AL. The marriage records show that J. B. Peake married Claudia Soles on Aug. 31, 1892, marriage book B, page 438, married by Sidney J. Catts, MG, as you stated. Claudia was the daughter of Henry C. Soles and his wife, Roxanna A. Lee. Claudia was born in about 1872. I do believe this is who you are looking for, not a son of William Peake and Sarah Moorer. What other information do you have on J. B. and Claudia Soles Peake that can help to confirm or not what I have? Thanks.
