    3. Hello all! I need someone's help. Searching for Thomas R. Harper and wife Rebecca Palmer Harper. Listed in 1880 Census Lowndes County. The Early Alabama marriage index has them married on 2/10/1877 in Lowndes. Can someone look up a copy of this marriage CERT for me? Or tell me where to write?     3. Does anyone have ANY info on Byrum OLDS and his wife Sarah? They were in Lowndes Co, AL in the 1830's, and Byrum died there ca 1835. I'm hoping to prove he was the father of Sarah OLDS DOWNEY, wife of Peter DOWNEY of AL. Thanks for any input or leads. :)

They were the parents of Jacob Arant b. 1804 so the marriage date is way off. Lowndes County was not even formed at the time Jacob was born. Sorry! Jeanette

William had a twin brother, Wiley B. who lived in Butler Co. Sarah Adams Hawkins was a daughter of John and Mary "Polly" Adams of Lowndes County. Sarah died before 1837. You can see a copy of John Adams will, I believe, at www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/al/lowndes.htm. Sarah is named in the will. In John Adams' estate records, Sarah has since died and it names her heirs.     3. In an effort to find my BAILEYs who were in Lowndes Co ca1830's to 1850's, I'm tracking some families who probably moved with them from SC. Can anyone make a link between these names: Josiah TODD, William and Joel BAILEY, Griffin BENDER, Green RIVES, any BUCKHALTER or BUCKHOLTS (and other similar spellings), and surnames HARDY, PERRY, RO(D)GERS, REESE, and RUSH. Many of these families appear to have been in Edgefield District of SC in 1790 and 1800. I'm trying to track them through GA into AL by 1840. If you have an knowledge of any of these families, please let me know. Thanks!!

    3. Dear Larry, I have the Lowndes county map that is published by the Alabama Department of Transportation. It is very useful because cemeteries are shown on the map, though I don't think the Department guarantees they have found all the old cemeteries. Anyway, the Stone cemetery is up in the very northern part of the county. If you are traveling on U.S. 80 toward Selma, turn north (or right) on County Road 37. When you reach Manack (dead ends there), turn left on County Road 54 (west). The road will make a bend and come to Burkville. Just southeast of Burkville in open fields are three cemeteries: Yankee Town, Stone (Township 35), and Graves (Townships 36). If I were you, I would ask in Burkville for directions on finding that cemetery. Perhaps someone at the Post Office can tell you who owns the land. This is north (or on the property of, not sure) of the G.E. Plant. If that is so, perhaps the G.E. people can give you better directions or take you there. Good luck. Billie Capell

Correr (their marriage record shows her surname to be "Conner") married August 27, 1846 in Lowndes Co., Alabama. They had the following children: Sarah (Sallie) E. Gordon b. abt. 1846 in Lowndes Co., Alabama who married someone with the name of H.N. Connor (possible relative of mother?); Frances (Fannie) E. Gordon b. abt. 1847 in Lowndes Co., Alabama who married a man by the name of John R. Pettit bef. 1871; Laura A. Gordon b. abt. Abt. 1851 in Lowndes Co., Alabama. In 1860, Laura was living in Huntsville, Texas with her mother. In 1871, she was living with her sister, Sallie Connor, somewhere in Texas. Please.... any help here will be so greatly appreciated.
