Tabitha, I am very interested in your Allisons you found in SC in 1720 as Laurens Co. was still Native American lands till 1769 when 96 district was formed and Laurens was a county about 1785. Would it be possible they were still in NC then? I am very interested in any Allisons in the areas of NC/SC/GA/AL as mine were in those states. I do find an Allison in Wilkes Co. GA before the REV war though and I think he was a Robert Allison. Strange you finding your Allisons in St Clair Co. AL. I also have a John Allison b. abt 1802 in NC and went to Al. I cannot find anything on his ancestors though. We have DNA tests [kit # 20132] on him but don't link to any other Allison yet. This John [my direct ancestor] came from Guliford Co. NC as far as I can find and went to Clarke Co. GA and was in Blount Co. AL in 1860. I found his son Martin V. Allison in St Clair in 1870 and he served from Blount Co. in the CSA and see below info on him. From: http://home.hiwaay.net/~bobwonda/blount.html Company B, Blount County 28th Alabama Infantry Allison, Martin V., (5th Sergeant), born about 1843 in Georgia, son of John and Martha Allison, enlisted at age 19 at Murphree's Crossroads; on company muster-in roll at Shelby Springs 13 Mar 1862; on muster roll from 4 Feb to 30 Apr 1862; on muster roll from Jan to Feb 1864; re-enlisted 23 Jan 1864 for the duration of the war; received clothing 23 Apr and 30 Jun 1864; no further record. 1870 St. Clair Co. Moses' father was Robert Allison b. 1720 in Laurens County, SC and d. 1790 in same. He was either married to an Elizabeth Scott or Frances Avant. and as far has his ancestors, I'm very sketchy as it seems the spelling of the last name may have changed. I don't have the names of all of John's children. I only have info on the one I'm directly related to - James MAdison Allison b. 04 Nov 1822 in St. Clair Co., AL. d. 06 Feb 1880 in same and m. to Elizabeth Robinson. I hope this helps and if it is of any interest to you, I have the info on John Allison's grandson Andrew Jackson Allison and great-grandson Julius Franklin Allison, including all their children's information.
