They used both names. Before 1850, my Elijah and his siblings used the name Ellison and in our dna research we have matches with Ellisons. You did not say whether or not you received the info I sent direct. If you did, you will notice that on one census Jeremiah Scotland Allison was recorded as Ellison. I would appreciate it if you would let me know if you did get the information or not. Anne
