I know he was admitted to the bar in Nashville at the same time as Andrew Jackson. He was a big land speculator, there are deeds for thousands of acres he bought across the nation. He was sometimes referred to as "the merchant from Philadelphia." He also had land dealings with Stokley Donaldson. He went broke in his land deals, and some say he died in prison. I am speculating that my gr. grandfather David S. Allison is possibly a grandson of this David. Still searching.
