    1. Re: Early Allison records in Granville, NC
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Allison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hZ.2ADIB/1563.1.1.1 Message Board Post: The Allison/Ellison Y-chromosome DNA project was designed to help us break down some of those "brick walls" and discover some new cousins with whom we can share genealogical research. Our Allison/Ellison DNA Project Results webpage is now online. The URL is: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~allisonellisondna/index.htm The following participant in the Allison/Ellison DNA Project looks like he is from the same line that you're researching. Click on Kit 24627 on the DNA Results chart and you will see his Paternal Ancestry. Here are the first four generations. 1. Robert Allison, Sr., (date and place of birth unknown but believed to possibly be in Scotland, apparently lived in PA for some time); d. 1796 Granville County, NC; m. (Rachel ?) and later m. Jennet Sprowl (possibly near Chester County, PA) 2. Robert Allison, Jr., b. between 1740 and 1750 (perhaps in PA); d. after 1830 probably in Bedford County, TN; m. Granville County, NC, Sarah Ogilvie 3. John Allison, b. March 1791; d. 27 Nov 1877, Fairplay, TX; m. 1815, Bedford County, TN, Naomi Gillespie 4. Robert Socrates Allison, b. 1831, TN; d. Carthage, TX; m. 1853, in or near Fairplay, TX, Sarah (Sallie) Harrison ****** There currently is no one else whose DNA score matches his score closely enough to be sure that they share a common ancestor within a genealogically significant timeframe. We really need another male WITH the ALLISON surname from this line to become a participant so we can establish a "DNA fingerprint" for this Allison line.
