    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Allison, Ellison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hZ.2ADIB/1722.1.1 Message Board Post: In 1893 Leonard Allison Morrison wrote the History of the Allison Family. In that book, Morrison discusses Lawrence Ellison and his descendants. He lists three sons, Richard, Thomas and John. He refers to his son-in-law John Ellington. Oterh researchers have learned that Lawrence Ellison had a daughter named Catherine who was married to John Ellington. I do not know of any Judith Allisons or Ellisons in the early Allison/Ellison families from Long Island. Of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't any. Accurate records seem to be hard to come by. Some of the Long Island Ellisons/Allisons moved to NJ and others to Orange Co., NY. Some of the NJ Ellisons migrated to Greenbrier Co., VA in the 1700s. The Allison/Ellison DNA Project is proving that the Ellisons and Allisons were closely related. If you know of a male descendant of this family who HAS the ALLISON or ELLISON surname, he would be a very welcome new member of the Allison/Ellison DNA Project.
