    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Allison Wares Muir Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/4317/hZ.2ADIB/187.237.1 Message Board Post: For general ALLISON Scotland research- I am a direct descendant of Margaret WARES. Born 1847 Caithness Wick. To David WARES and Marion ALLISON. On Margaret death cert is one set of parents, on her birth set is another. I have two sets of parents for Margaret WARES. The former and who I suspect are actually Grandparents- James WARES and Mary SIMPSON. Somehow, and I'll stand corrected here, all the WARES children ended up on the 1851 CENSUS as orphans. under the care of a Margaret SUTHERLAND. I may be wrong. Their parents were still alive ! Marion ALLISON WARES died in 1860 as a result of childbirth. Plus a female child. David WARES died before 1861. He witnessed the death certs. He is listed as a ? Paris##..I think a parisienne dealer? Is that liquor. ALL the Burden (see below) Bannatyne & Muirs were into alcohol !. Actually there was a split about mid 1800's- temperance and bossers. Split the families I think. Religion as well. Margaret married William MUIR flesher- He was born 1842-03 Mearns Renfrew. His parents were James MUIR and Mary FRASER. Read on for mayhem and mystery... Marriage -Calton Glasgow 1863. Children- Marion ALLISON MUIR, Margaret WARES MUIR and MARY FRASER MUIR (died at 3 months, same year as Margaret WARES MUIR) When Margaret died in 1869, William remarried in 1870- Catherine Morrison. They had William MUIR 1871. William died in a lunatic asylum, shortly (actually a day or so of entry) after being committed on a charge of murder. 1876. He died of a broken back !! Wish I knew what and whom here. Have probate inventory and would like to know more though.. ......................................................................... The WARES family were grocers and bakers. Seem fairly gentle folk. Until they met the MUIRS ? The MUIR family mainly butchers (mmm) and sellers of alcohol...mmmm again ! The ALLISON family appear as aristocrats and thinkers. The FRASER family as furiously clan like. (cover up?) 1. Margarets Mother Marion ALLISON nee: Allison (m. David Allison 12 Nov 1843, Glasgow). 2. My Mothers GMother was Marion Allison MUIR born 1864. She married Robert McArthur / McArtney ................................................................ My GMother and my Mothers Mother was Allison MUIR McArthur (Married John Burden Bannatyne) and when he died at an early age, she married Benjamin Denoon. My mother is a BANNATYNE. Of the MacKinnon Bannatyne's from BUTE I've tracked most of them down but need to totally verify. Again will help anyone once I get my Legacy Pro files in order. I also need help...WARES are extra hard to track. Like the BURDEN family, they have a ready name that pops up everywhere as "" beast of burden, a burden, the wares sold, wares for sale..."phew ! I have GROS Edinburgh docs on most plus Census. If I can assist anyone I will, but I need to also be absolutlely sure myself first. b1b2j3@hunterlink.net.au Bron
