I am in the process of formatting an ALLISON Bible for my site but I am looking to place the geographic location for this family. I do not find a family matching the dates within this Bible very closely so I am hoping it will ring a bell with someone. There is also a mention of President McKinley in recent notes stuck in this Bible -- see below -- but again, this Allison family does not appear to match his. The Bible is a not a Bible per se -- it is prayer book printed in German in Philadephia in 1795 by Michael Billmeyer. This leads me to believe that this family would be PA Germans, most owners were -- or the family at least spoke German. The family entries are NOT in German but appear contemporary. Some are spelled with the long S -- Allifon. I will transcribe the various pieces of paper stuck in this Bible after the entries in the Bible itself. Any details about this family would be helpful. Thanks -- Tracy St Claire Bible Records Online http://www.biblerecords.com PS -- The seeming misspellings below are in the original. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- [Page One -- Front Flyleaf] Elijah James Allison he wase born in the yeare of our lord 1797 [maybe 1799] May the 25 Sarah Allison She was born in the year of our Lord 1802 June the 10th Edward Allison he wase born in the year of our Lord 1804 January th 2 Rachel Allifon was born in the year of our Lord 1805 July the 8th Jenny [??] Allison She was Born in the year of our Lord 1806 August the ?? I am still seeking information on Martha Allison. She is listed living in the John C. and Anna Allison Parton Household on the 1850 US Census, 10th Subdivision, Greene County, Tennessee . John Parton's name is spelled 'Pardon' on this census. Martha is listed as being 14 years old, birthplace NC. Her birthdate would be approximately 1836. Who were her parents, what relationship was she to Anna Allison Parton? I will appreciate any assistance concerning Martha. Maggie Laurenz

Carol, There are dozens of direct descendants of SHEM ALLISON and JULIA BRANNON who are members of the National Allison-Allanson Family Association. In fact, many of them were at the recent National Allison Family Reunion just last month in Brevard, NC -- a short distance from where Shem lived. One of Shem's sons was at the family reunion, and dozens of his grandsons! Would be more than happy to communicate with you on your family history! And we'd be delighted to welcome you as a member of your family's huge 690 member organization -- the National Allison-Allanson Family Association. In addition to the national level reunion, our other major project is a quarterly magazine, "The Allison Family Voice" which is loaded with family history, plus the present moment in time. BTW: One of Shem's great-granddaughters is a member of our board of directors! Please feel free to contact me direct: dma12@bellsouth.net Yours, Michael Allison, President National Allison-Allanson Family Assoc. ----- Original Message ----- From: <joemcdo@flash.net> To: <ALLISON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, November 25, 2005 6:48 PM Subject: [ALLISON] Re: Shem Allison and Julia Brannon > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hZ.2ADIB/1303.2 > > Message Board Post: > > Carol, > I'm also researching the Shem ALLISON family and would like to share info > with you. > Please contact me at <joemcdo@flash.net> > > Keep well Cuz > Joe > >

I know he was admitted to the bar in Nashville at the same time as Andrew Jackson. He was a big land speculator, there are deeds for thousands of acres he bought across the nation. He was sometimes referred to as "the merchant from Philadelphia." He also had land dealings with Stokley Donaldson. He went broke in his land deals, and some say he died in prison. I am speculating that my gr. grandfather David S. Allison is possibly a grandson of this David. Still searching.

They came to Arkansas abt 1934-1935 and I'm not sure if they were originally in Clay county, but they last lived in Piggott when they died in 1977 & 1979. I'm also trying to track down the families of my great aunts and uncles, the brothers and sisters of my grandfather Clifford William Allison. They are: Pearl Allison (I think she died as a baby or child); J.P. Allison married Hortence and had about 7 boys; Eva Marie Allison married ? Caldwell and had Ava, Billie and I think another son; Orville Henderson Allison which my father thinks may still be alive married Margie and had Jimmie & Debbie; Juanita Bernice Allison married J.W. Hirons and had Ronnie William & Glenn Dale - Ronnie married Sue and they had Chris & Ricky; Opal Mae Allison married ? Dillard and had James Edward "Jim" and Karen; Edward Ray Allison which dad thinks may still be alive. I think some of these people stayed in the Clay County area or close by, but I'm not real sure. I've got several family photos of this group and would like to find out more. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am the granddaughter of Clifford William Allison and the daughter of Robert Dale Allison.
