Our Allison/Ellison DNA Project Results webpage is online. The URL is: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~allisonellisondna/index.htm You can find the paternal ancestry charts of the participants there. You will see that there are currently 12 distinctly different Allison and Ellison family lines, each of which has two or more participants. There are also several men who are UNGROUPED because no other Allison or Ellison male participant has a DNA score that matches their DNA score. You will probably be most interested in the DNA score and pedigree chart of participant # 7692 who traces his ancestry back to Elsey Allison. If you click on his ID # 7692 on the chart, you will see his paternal pedigree chart. Y-Chromosome DNA is passed from father to son down through the generations just as surnames are passed from father to son. Only men inherit the Y-chromosome, therefore only men with the Allison or Ellison surnames (or variant spellings) can be participants in the Allison/Ellison Y-chromosome DNA Family Reconstruction Project. In other words, the Y-Chromosome DNA samples can only be provided by males who HAVE the ALLISON / ELLISON Surnames or similar spellings. Do you have a male Allison relative who HAS the ALLISON surname? If so, he can join the DNA Project. Plweae encourage him to do so if you are interested in finding out how closely his DNA score would match particpant # 7692. I know hw would be thrilled to find an Allison cousin. The method of obtaining the DNA cells is simple and painless and doesn't involve any drawing of blood . The type of DNA that is analyzed for genealogical purposes doesn't provide any data about medical conditions. The DNA testing company sends a small tube with Q-tip-like swabs to each participant. All that needs to be done is to swab the inside of the cheek to collect some cells, replace the swabs in the tube and mail it back to the company . In about 9 weeks the company informs the participants about the results and lets them know if their score matches anyone else in the DNA database. If you have a male ALLISON relative who is interested, he can click on the URL below to submit his name, mailing address,e-mail address, etc. to order a DNA sample kit to be mailed to him and to join the Allison/Ellison DNA Project. http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=H99693 Y-chromosome DNA testing is enhancing traditional genealogical research. DNA testing is NOT intended to be a "stand-alone method" of learning about your ancestry. However, it can be of great assistance in furthering your traditional research, especially when your DNA marker scores match the marker scores of another man who shares your surname. It may give you the clue you've been searching for to narrow down the place of origin of your early ancestors. I will be glad to provide additional information about the DNA Project. I look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Mary Allison Yonan Co-administrator, ALLISON /ELLISON DNA Project yonan at fgi.net

Surnames: Allison, Ellison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hZ.2ADIB/1722.1.1 Message Board Post: In 1893 Leonard Allison Morrison wrote the History of the Allison Family. In that book, Morrison discusses Lawrence Ellison and his descendants. He lists three sons, Richard, Thomas and John. He refers to his son-in-law John Ellington. Oterh researchers have learned that Lawrence Ellison had a daughter named Catherine who was married to John Ellington. I do not know of any Judith Allisons or Ellisons in the early Allison/Ellison families from Long Island. Of course, that doesn't mean that there weren't any. Accurate records seem to be hard to come by. Some of the Long Island Ellisons/Allisons moved to NJ and others to Orange Co., NY. Some of the NJ Ellisons migrated to Greenbrier Co., VA in the 1700s. The Allison/Ellison DNA Project is proving that the Ellisons and Allisons were closely related. If you know of a male descendant of this family who HAS the ALLISON or ELLISON surname, he would be a very welcome new member of the Allison/Ellison DNA Project. If you are interested in more information, please contact me privately. All the best, Mary Allison Yonan yonan at fgi.net

Rachel Allison may have died in Kansas. James Shelton Allison may have died in Kansas. I found them in Kansas in 1880 and have seen some family trees on them but nothing listed as a death date. I am trying to find any information on her and trying to find out if they had any children together. What I do know. Earl H. (Harold) Allison m. Edith Treft 16 Jun 1929 in Milan Michigan. Earl was born May 1902 in Illinois and Edith Treft was born in abt. 1907 in Ohio. In 1930 they lived in Washington Co., Ohio with his mother Jennie. We did not know about her until I found her on the 1930 census. My grandfather went by at least 4 different names that we know of on the 1910 census he was Howard on the 1920 Harold and on the 1930 Earl H. and my mother knew him and he died as Harold Edmond Allison. I really would like to know if there were any children from this marriage as it would mean my mother has half sisters and/or brothers out there. Thank you very much.
