Surnames: Allison,Jones Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/hZ.2ADIB/1663 Message Board Post: I have just started out in my family search. I have discovered that my great grandfather Van Rensselaer ALLISON born 28 Oct 1842 was married before marrying my Grandmother Mahala Ann JONES born 8 May 1854. He was married sometime in 1864 to a Helen no last name is given or place of marriage but they had a child named Adeline ALLISON born 6 May 1866. Anyone who might have any information on first marriage and the daughter that was born of that union would be appreciated. My great grandparents were married 17 Jan 1874 but don't know where they were married at.

The following e-mail is of great concern to any genealogists who use archives. Please read, sign the petition, then send this to any other Rootsweb or genealogy lists you're on. The President's budget recommendations for Fiscal Year 2006 slash or eliminate more than 150 federal programs. In that budget, the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC) has been targeted to receive NO funding. This includes no funds for the grants program and no funds for staffing to support the NHPRC programs. It effectively eliminates NHPRC. The Council of State Historical Records Coordinators, the Society of American Archivists, and the National Association for Government Archivists and Records Administrators are working collaboratively to address this threat to NHPRC and NARA. Archivists across the U.S. are rallying to save NHPRC while also ensuring that NARA has sufficient funding to sustain its current programs and continue to advance in areas that benefit all archival repositories and every citizen of the United States. As part of our efforts to continue to express to Congress interest in restoration of funding for NHPRC, we have created an online petition. Please consider signing this petition, and please forward it to any listservs, e-mail groups, or organizations and people you feel would be interested in helping with this effort. It is a quick and easy way for many people to assist. The petition will be forwarded to the House Appropriations Committee and Subcommittee on Treasury, Transportation, HUD and the Judiciary in late May. The petition can be access at: _www.savearchives.org_ (http://www.savearchives.org/) Click on the "petition" button. Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hZ.2ADIB/1658 Message Board Post: PLEASE NOTE, I AM NOT A MEMBER OF THIS FAMILY. I’VE ONLY DONE A COPY AND PASTE FROM OUR LOCAL NEWSPAPER FYI. Sara Marie Allison Jensen Posted: Friday, Jun 10, 2005 - 03:26:02 pm PDT COLUMBIA BASIN HERALD. MOSES LAKE, WASHINGTON. Sara Marie Allison Jensen, formerly of Waterville, died peacefully in her sleep on June 5, 2005, at SummerWood Special Care Center in Moses Lake. Arrangements are in care of Kayser's Chapel and Crematory. Sara was born in Ellwood City, Pa. on April 23, 1908, to Audley D. and Lillian Rose (Munnell) Allison. The family moved to Pueblo, Colo., before settling on their Spokane Valley apple orchard when Sara was a young girl. Sara graduated from Spokane's Lewis and Clark High School, attended U.C.L.A., and earned a B.S. degree in home economics from the University of Idaho in 1930. She taught in several rural towns in Idaho and Washington before meeting the love of her life. She and Harold T. Jensen, a Waterville wheat farmer and businessman, were married in 1937. Sara became a homemaker and together she and Harold raised three children. Sara was active in various organizations in the Waterville community as well as being a Cub Scout and 4-H Club leader for her children. She was an avid reader and served on the Waterville Library Board for many years. Sara and Harold also enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and golf, and they were charter members of the Wenatchee Golf and Country Club. Harold passed away in 1979 and Sara later moved to Wenatchee. In 1993 she moved to a retirement community in West Seattle, and in July 2004, she moved into SummerWood at Moses Lake. Sara was an accomplished seamstress and made all of her own and her children's clothing. She also knitted and did macrame. As an artist, Sara believed, "What is important is the beauty we bring into the world while we live." She belonged to the Cascade Artists and painted in oils, acrylics and watercolors, and she especially enjoyed ceramics and pottery. Sara was preceded in death by her parents and only brother. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: Karen (Dan) Mittelstaedt, Moses Lake; Judy (Charlie) Herring, Lake Forest Park; and Peter (Cathy) Jensen, Seattle. She also leaves behind four grandchildren: Jason (Kirsten) Middelstaedt, Jon Middelstaedt, Jill Jensen and Allison Jensen, all of Seattle. The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff of SummerWood for their compassionate care. As Sara's request, there will be no funeral. The family will hold a private memorial at the Waterville Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 3876 Bridge Way N., Seattle, WA 98103.

    1. Allisons in GA connected to Smiths
    2. Rhonda
    3. I have an Allison mystery I need help with. I have a gg-grandmother, Margaret J. Allison (Maggie), born 1852 in Ga died 1921, Hall Co., GA. She was married to a Lawrence S. Smith, son of James H. Smith (Union District, SC), married to 1st wife Esther Aikens of SC. Maggie's mother was a Mary Ann Smith (said to have been related somehow to her husband's family) and father was "Chapelton" Allison. Family stories said that Chapelton (Chap) was nicknamed this because he served as a chaplain in the Civil War. He and Mary Ann divorced and both remarried. Mary Ann died in the 1903 Hall Co. tornado. I have no other information on Chapelton or what his real name was. Story says that he had a daughter from his 2nd wife that never married and lived to be 102 yrs. old. For any who are connected to Smiths as well, James H. Smith's father is said to be Rucker Smith married to a Nancey Posey. Any info on this family would be appreciated as well. Thank you! Rhonda
