Surnames: Allison, Ellison Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hZ.2ADIB/1655.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: There are now many Allison pedigree charts of the participants in the ongoing Allison/Ellison DNA Project posted on our DNA project results webpage: http://freepages.family.rootsweb.com/~allisonellisondna/index.htm As you will see there are Allison and Ellison participants in the ALLISON/ELLISON DNA Project who are descended from Allison and Ellison ancestors from TN and other southern states. The value of the DNA test lies in the comparison of the DNA from two or more Allison/Ellison males. If they have matching DNA scores, they will know that they share a common ancestor and they can share their genealogical research. If each of you knows a living male Allison descendant from your ALLISON lines who HAS the ALLISON surname, each of them would be a welcome new participant in the Allison/Ellison DNA Project. Please check out the ALLISON / ELLISON DNA Project Results webpage and submit a request to join if know of an ALLISON male who is interested. For any information about how to join the DNA project, please contact me at yonan@fgi.net Best wishes, Mary Allison Yonan

Carter Austin was the son of Daniel Allison of Talledega, AL.. Carter Austin was married to Margaret Emma Shelley in Talledega, AL. We visited Tim on one of our trips to Alabama a few years ago. The Craven connection was due to researchers mistakenly identifying Jacob D. Shelley and Mary Craven as Margaret Shelley's parents instead of Jacob's brother Charles. Thnks Lem

    1. Re: [ALLISON] Allisons from Champaign Co, OH??
    2. I am curious to know more about your Allisons in Champaign County, OH. I am descended from a William Allison who was born about 1826 (in PA according to a census) and lived most of his adult life in Shelby County. He died in 1899 at the Montgomery County Home. His father was born in VA according to a census. I have not been able to trace back to his father. William Allison's widow, Bethania Westfall Allison was pictured in the Dayton newspaper in 1925. The article stated that she was from Quincy, OH and was in Dayton visiting her daughter. I don't know who she was living with in Quincy but that town is close to the Champaign County border. I keep searching for clues to this Allison family and would like to know what part of the county your Allison's lived in and in what time frame. Dianne Harvey

In fact, she was the oldest (b. Mar 30, 1849). Judson, the second child, may have died before 1853; he doesn't appear in a census list. Joel Walden (my ancestor) was bor Jan 31, 1853; then followed Harriet ("Hal"), b. 1856, Mary Gilman, b. 1860, and Elizabeth Warpenbee (b. 1862). Emma's listed in the 1870 census as aged 20. According to another web source, she married Edgar Alson Sidman.
