Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/10618 Surname: GARRETT, HAMMOCK, SPARKMAN, SULLIVAN ------------------------- Seeking information on the family that owns or owned the GARRETT SAWMILL in Limestone Co., AL. My great great grandfather, Henry Garrett, is supposed to be the son of or the brother of the original owner. Henry may have had brothers named Jasper, Newton, William, or Marcellius (sp?). Marcellius was supposedly killed in Civil War and had a sonnamed Newton Jasper, adn Newton Jasper had a son named Jasper (Jack) and was last knoen to be in Columbus, GA area. Henry was in Lake Co Fl by 1860 CENSUS and he was married to Aritha Turner and they had the following children: Sarah Frances b. 1851 maybe GA or AL, Charney Hardeman b. 1853 maybe GA or AL (my great grandfatehr), Elizabeth, James, Mary, and William. Henry does not appear on the 1870 census but his wife and children do. Henry was born about 1810 per the 1860 FL Census nad as he enlisted in Cival War, is predumed to have been killed or died before 1870 census. Any information that anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Have been looking for his family for many years. An Insurance Salesperson told my mother that her father had worked their for many years at the Garrett Sawmill and my mother was the spitting image of the current owner at that time around 10 yrs ago. Thanking you in advance for your response, Laverne Hammock tornow
