    3. I am interested in Sylvester Brown Stephenson who married Mary Holt near Shoal Ford in Limestone County,Alabama in 1857. They had a son William Allen Stephenson born in Limestone in 1858. In 1861 Sylvester Brown Stephenson enlisted in the Confederacy in Huntsville,Alabama. He served in Ward's Artillery which was organized in Huntsville by one -time mayor John James Ward. Ward's Artillery took part in the Atlanta-Dalton Campain and participated in the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in Georgia. The Battery was overrun in the Battle of Selma in 1865,but Sylvester Brown escaped and continued to fight until the war ended. Captain John James Ward was killed at the Battle of Nashville in 1864. Sylvester Brown Stephenson died in Waxahachie,TX,Ellis County, in 1908 in the home of his daughter Mrs. W.H. Smith. Sylvester Brown Stephenson,his wife Mary Holt,and son William Allen Stephenson had their pictures taken in Cleburne,TX. They are posted at the Giles County,TN. website. Place of death and burial of William Allen Stephenson is not known. He may have returned to Limestone County,AL.
