The 9th had two companies from limestone county under Capt. Thomas Hobbs and Capt. D? Houston. Gaines Smith from Limestone county was later colonel. I think the best bet would be the 4th alabama. They had many men from Madison county in their unit and they saw quite a bit of action at gettysburg I am told, although I have never researched this.
