Seeking proof that Elisha RAINBOLT/RAMBOLT (see below) is the son of Joseph RAINBOLT and Susannah GRINDSTAFF. Joseph RAINBOLT died in 1791 or 1792 in Washington County, NC. The land where Joseph RAINBOLT lived and died in 1791 became Carter Co., TN in 1796 and then Johnson Co., TN in 1836. The land owned by the Rainbolts is now under the waters of the Watauga Reservoir T.V.A. Elisha RAINBOLT is prob the third son of Joseph RAINBOLT and Susan GRINDSTAFF RAINBOLT. Elisha RAINBOLT is listed as one of the signers of a "Petition to the President and Congress by Intruders on Chickasaw Lands-Mississippi Territory, Elk River Sims'es settlement" dated 5 Sep 1810. The land being petitioned for in the petition is in the area of Huntsville, Madison, AL. Elisha RAINBOLT was born ca 1774 prob in NC. Elisha was married to Philles/Fillas (last name unknown).
