About 1809, John SLAUGHTER moved his family from Knox County, KY to Madison Co., Miss. Territory. He died in 1812 and left a will that named his wife Sarah and his children William, James, John, Samuel; Phebe, Polly, Nancy and Betsey. When AL became a state, we find son James as the first sheriff of Limestone County. I am told that son John was shot in fight involving the two James ATKINSONs and James SCOTT. Was young John SLAUGHTER killed? Or did he die later? John SLAUGHTER's son William is not as easy to follow. Was he William A. SLAUGHTER, a Justice of the Peace? Was his wife Ann, who was a widow in 1850, with several young children? Was Ann William's second wife? Who was his first? Was she a COLLIER? Daughter Betsey married John JONES in 1816. Who was John JONES and where did this couple live? I cannot find them in Limestone County or Madison. Did they have a son named William M. JONES, b. 1819 in Decatur? Andrew Jackson JONES, b. 1828? Thanks for ANY info!!! J Brown [email protected]
