I just found him at the Columbia Co. Library 2 wks ago. We knew he was named william but that was all. Then I found a book on the Collage Hill Histories and there he was. He was born in 1852, was the father of Caleb and Jim Ed (my grandfather) Powell. I also found one of Caleb's wives and his children and grand children. When I found the rundown of Caleb John (Bethal) Powell and Leatha Jane G. , there were 12 children and William Frank was the 11th child. That led me back to Jacob C.Powell and then back to Caleb and Dorcas. I was so excited , my grandfathers mother died when he was born in 1879, she was a Paul, we don't know her given name. Her mother was Mrs. C.E. (Betty) Paul, buried at Shiloh cemetery at Waldo, Ark. William left when she died and Betty raised Caleb and grandpa Jim Ed. They never knew the Powell family. Now i am looking for the Pauls, who also came from Alabama,N.C. and S.C. Now that I have found the powells, i found there are a lot of us in this line.
