Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/439 Surname: MILLER, LOCKE ------------------------- My African American Locke ancestors apparently migrated to Sevier County, Arkansas with Lockes and Millers. Parmelia Miller (know as Aunt Kit) migrated to Arkansas with her slave Eliza or "Liz" where she married J.F. Locke. Liza is believed to be the mother of Eli Locke, our great grandfather. The Lockes maintained a hotel in DeQueen, Arkansas--and Eliza worked for them as a slave and in later years as a servant at the hotel. Eli also worked for the Lockes after slavery ended Is Parmelia of your group---I know she joined a married sister in Arkansas. Have you come across any deeds, will, other documents that mention slaves att. to the Miller family in Limestone County, Alabama? I know that the Locke's migrated to Alabama from Rowan County, North Carolina---perhaps the Millers did too--I don't know.
