Sorry, my effort to format and highlight specific text did not appear in my copy of my previous message & it probably made it hard for you to know exactly who I was asking about. The three primary family members I am seeking info on are: Joshua and Lydia Phelps Florence Grace Hillis Phelps Crowson Wiley Daniel Crowson Sorry again for any confusion. Thanks. Linda Wagner jim4lin@aol.com South Carolina
Would like to know something--anything--about following individuals and their families, incl. historical and/or anecdotal material: Rev. Joshua & Lydia A. Phelps, Joshua b. 2/10/1841, d. 4/6/1925; Lydia b. 3/8/1853, d. 6/1932, buried Lebanon Cemetery, Limestone Co., AL. They took my ggrandmother (Florence Grace Hillis, b. 7/24/1876 in Giles Co., TN; d. 6/15/1955, Limestone Co., AL) in when her mother died in Giles Co. circa 1878-79. Joshua rode to Giles Co. on horseback & brought her back to Limestone Co. with him. His name is listed as "Joshue" on Florence's death cert. We only know he was a preacher who wrote a book, but the only copy we heard of was destroyed accidentally at Kedron community, near Pulaski, TN, a few years ago. He & Lydia had no children of their own. Florence Grace Hillis (Phelps Crowson) My ggrandmother (vital stats under Phelps listing, buried Lebanon Cemetery, Limestone Co., AL), daughter of John Mack or "Mac" Hillis (b. 1841 d. aft. 6/1900, remarried & in 1881 & had 2nd family which has been thoroughly researched but they know little of my ggrandmother). We do not know much about her "adoption" by the Phelps family, only that they were very good to her. My primary research objectives are to discover 1) who was Florence's birth mother (we don't know first or maiden name or exact date of death, when Joshua would have taken Florence in) and 2) did Florence have sibs from birth family, since family lore has it that there were at least two. She found out later in life that she had half-brother, Benjamin F. Hillis, b. 11/23/1881 (Arkansas?), d. 4/14/1955, Limestone Co., AL, & he had sibs. He lived with her for a time & built her son Marvin's house. Wiley Daniel Crowson b. 4/7/1869, Goodspring, TN, d. 2/26/1925, Cartwright, AL, m. Florence Grace Hillis Phelps & they lived at Cartwright in Limestone Co. The 1870 census shows him at age 1 with mother in Madison Co., AL. His mother had been married before, possibly to a Hannah. Wiley had half-sister, "Ambo" (last name Hannah?), who married Willie Sloan. Would also love to know more about Aunt Ambo & Uncle Willie Sloan. Also looking for info on Wiley's daughter Frances Alma Crowson, b. 9/20/1907, Limestone Co., d. 9/5/1957 in PA, buried Lebanon Cem., Limestone Co., m. Frederick Price in PA (2nd marriage?). While young & living in AL, she was involved in vehicle accident; I believe it occurred on steep bank where there is now an interstate junction on Hwy. 31 before crossing TN River at Decatur & there were one or more fatalities (would newspaper account be archived somewhere?). She moved to FL for a while before settling in PA. I am fairly new to genealogical research & plan to search public records and websites as time permits. Thank you. I am looking for the burial place of Elizabeth PRESLEY, who appears on the 1880 Limestone census in Mooresville area. She was in her 70's then so expect she died within the decade. Also looking for the death date/burial site for Emeline Matilda (Presley) GILES, born about 1829 in GA - died after 1887 and for her sister Elizabeth Angeline (Presley) BANKS, who last appears on the 1880 census in Mooresville. Her husband Charles remarried in 1894 in Morgan Co., so guessing she died shortly before that. Thanks Jackie

Does anyone have any info about William Monroe "Billy" Chapman (or his family) who was born in Giles Co., TN about 1835. He died in the early 1860s in a farming accident near Good Springs, AL. His wife was Susan Patterson and they had a son, James L. "Jim" Chapman, my great-grandfather. I am also looking for info about Billy's parents, Asa Chapman and Malinda Griggs Chapman. Thanks, Mike Chapman chappy@mbusa.net
Does anyone out there have any info that would lead me to the parents of Newton R. Brown who was born in Mississippi in 1846? Newton shows up in Limestone Co. in 1870 when he marries Elizabeth "Lizzie" Barnes and resides there until his death (which is in the 1920s, I believe). His son Matthew Spears "Mack" Brown was my grandfather. If anybody has any info about Newton or his family, I sure would appreciate it. Thanks, Mike Chapman chappy@mbusa.net
Looking for someone who can confirm information about this family. Jane Nesbit, b. 1806 in SC, was my GG-Grandmother; she married John S. Greenhaw. I believe that Jane's father was Thomas and her grandfather Samuel, and that Thomas migrated to Limestone Co. by 1820, for he purchased land there in March, 1820. Also, I believe that Jane's siblings were Samuel, Mary, Margaret, Robert, Sara Margaret, Nancy, Eliza and Thomas S. Please reply to annis@istate.net.

If anyone has ANY information on this line, PLEASE le me know. I have been looking for proof of Robert's father for 18 years. MURRAH/ MURRAY I found a source which states that my "Miss MURRAH" was the sister of Amos Bird MURRAH and Cas MURRAH. I know that Amos Bird MURRAH was in Limestone Co., AL at that time. I desperately need to know the name of Amos Bird's parents, so I can find the name of my ancestor "Miss MURRAH". Thanks for any assistance on these lines.
