ALABAMA 1850 CENSUS, LIMESTONE CO., ALABAMA STEPHENSON ALLEN W. # 056 T: DISTRICT 3 I would like to know where his parents were born. I am interested in an Allen W. 3. Check Broadfoot's Compiled Confederate Records, if your library has the set. If not, NARA will have his record since he was killed in battle. One of my MS ancestors had a death date in the Bible that coincided with Battle of Shiloh but I could not find his record in MS archives. Went to Shiloh archives & check their pay records, found a man by his name & wrote down the company etc. Ordered it from NARA & got it back real quick. Good luck with your search. 3. I am looking for information on Reams (or Reames)in Limestone Co.,AL. I have put bits and pieces of this family together, but it is mostly guess work. A Fanny REAMS is listed as head of household in the 1830 census of Limestone Co. I assume she may have gone there with her husband from North Carolina after 1822 and he died before 1830, but I have found no deed records of a Reams/Reames buying land during that time or any probate records. Any information someone could give me would be greatly appreciated -such as a Reams being a neighbor or witness to a deed, will, etc. I believe these were probably Fanny REAMS' children: Mathew J. Reames/Reams (my gg-grandfather) - b.July 20,1811 in NC/ md. Maranda C. HOOD of Giles Co.,TN/ d. Jan 10, 1879 in Fayette Co.,TN (I believe he moved to Fayette Co,TN abt 1835 with his HOOD in-laws) children: William A., Susan J., George Henry, Mary C., James, Sterling Brown, Joshua Butcher, Mathew J., Nancy A., Daniel W., Benjamin J., J.V. Henry J. Reams - b.abt 1813 in NC/ md. Mary S. Baker in Fayette Co.,TN (I don't believe he ever lived in Fayette Co. He is later listed in the 1850 census of Limestone Co., AL) Children: Julia A. F., Martha J., Jackson S. Richard W. Reams - b. abt 1822 in NC/ md. Sarah A. Carter in Fayette Co.,TN (As with Henry J. Reams, I don't believe he ever lived in Fayette Co. He is later found in the 1850 Limestone Co.,AL census). Children: Martha J. Julia Ann Reams - md. April 29, 1844 to James BRUMBELOW in Limestone Co.,AL -from Limestone Co. marriage records Martha J. Reams - witnessed to a deed in Giles Co.,TN before 1835 of Alexander HOOD (father of Maranda Hood). This is a HUGE leap, but I suspect she may have been a school teacher there because his land was adjacent to the school house. Thank you for any information or clues you can give me.
