Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/416 Surname: ------------------------- Nancy Liggie Hill may belong to one of the Hill families that came to Limestone County much earlier than mine. My specific line came from Grenada, MS, around 1880, when Dr's. Henry Willis Hill and his only son James Abram Hill set up a joint medical practice in Mooresville. These Hills all had small families from then until now, so it's not hard to keep track of my immediate Hill kin. Now, other branches, or earlier Hill branches may be a different situation. Over in Wilkes County, GA, about five of Abraham Hill's dozen-plus kids married five of a Pope family member's dozen-plus kids and started a population explosion. I'm sure some of both families came to Limestone County fairly early, but I haven't traced them. Al Hill

David and Louisa (Gossard) Isnogle moved to the Athens area in the early 1900's from Ohio. Their children were Bertha who married Harry Hetrick, Stanton who married Evelyn, John who married Cellelah (?), Charley, Lester, Pearl and Ruth. Some of the children returned to Indiana and Ohio. David's sister followed him to the Athens area and her name was Jane Lutrell and she was married to William. Jane and William had one daughter that we know of......Orvilla (Arvilla) Blanche Lutrell. "Blanche" married Mr. Crowley. After Mr. Lutrells death, Jane married a David Somers and in 1929 they were in NC. The Isnogle family followed their McCague cousins to the area. I was wondering if anyone had the resources to search for birth, marriage, death, cemetery records etc. I checked the Limestone genweb site to see if there was anyone doing look-ups and I did not find anyone, so I thought maybe some kind soul on this list had the resources. I do have a few dates if that would help. Any suggestions will be appreciated!! Thanks Jackie

Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/409 Surname: Powell ------------------------- I am the Great granddaughter of William Franklin Powell. I just found him at the Columbia Co. Library 2 wks ago. We knew he was named william but that was all. Then I found a book on the Collage Hill Histories and there he was. He was born in 1852, was the father of Caleb and Jim Ed (my grandfather) Powell. I also found one of Caleb's wives and his children and grand children. When I found the rundown of Caleb John (Bethal) Powell and Leatha Jane G. , there were 12 children and William Frank was the 11th child. That led me back to Jacob C.Powell and then back to Caleb and Dorcas. I was so excited , my grandfathers mother died when he was born in 1879, she was a Paul, we don't know her given name. Her mother was Mrs. C.E. (Betty) Paul, buried at Shiloh cemetery at Waldo, Ark. William left when she died and Betty raised Caleb and grandpa Jim Ed. They never knew the Powell family. Now i am looking for the Pauls, who also came from Alabama,N.C. and S.C. Now that I have found the powells, i found there are a lot of us in this line. I found our family Web Site , then a family rite here that we did not know we were kid and now I have found you. Please contact me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank You NAN Powell Beavers
Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/408 Surname: Woodroof, Warwick, Gaston, Hill, Wright ------------------------- Capt/Maj Oliver B[arrett] Warwick of Huntsville b. Dec 1834, attended West Point, married (my great-aunt) Nancy McCrary Woodroof 1 Oct 1884 in Mooresville at the home of her father, "Maj" James W. Woodroof. Ollie & Nannie were stationed at several of the major western forts during the 1880's before she died about 1894. Ollie died on duty at Panay, Phillipine Islands, 26 Nov 1899. I want any information I can find on this couple or on the family of Oliver B. Warwick and his sister, Lila Gaston Warwick. (I don't even know their parents.) Obituaries should be available in any of the local papers, as both families were fairly prominent. I've read that their wedding was something of a social event of Huntsville's 1884 "season." If family members are interested, I can share letters from Nannie to her sister Betty Woodroof Hill in Mooresville. Al Hill
