    3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/444 Surname: Billions, Billings ------------------------- Dear John, You are right, we are related. I have Nancy as the daughter of Littleton also. I believe that I may have the wrong death date for her though. I have her born in 1834 and her death date as 1896. I received this information from Rupert Billions whose line is from James Monroe Billions b.1840 d.1910. James was Nancy's brother. I would be very interested in any information you might care to share. Thanks for answering my message. I am from the Jason Billions line b.1847 d.1907. Brother to Nancy. He married Sarah Clark and one of their children was Joseph Alexander Billions, my ggrandfather. Joseph married Betty Johnsey Billions and moved to Memphis, Tn. where they reared 13 children. I have a hot lead on the burial place of Littleton in Limestone Co. but I am still waiting. It seems that the family moved back and forth across the Tennessee and Alabama line. I found Littleton in a list of adults living in Fayette Co. prior to the Civil War. As I read down the list of ministers, and land owners, I finally came to Billions, Littleton, "An illeriate farmer raising cotton in 1838 and he couldn't make ends meet". I was a little disappointed. I think the family lived a very hard life. I have a fair amount of information on this family and will be glad to share anything you might could use. By the way I live in San Antonio, Tx and my e-mail address is [email protected] Please feel free to use this address. If you don't mind I will mention you and your information to Rupert. He lives in Birmingham, Al. Maybe between the three of us we can piece together more of this family's life. Thanks again for your response. Linda Littleton Billions married to Nancy Billions Children William 1825 Jane 1828-1896 Nancy A. 1834-1896 Eliza 1836 Sally Ann 1836 buried in Birmingham John A. 1838-1908 James Monroe 1840-1910 Jason B. 1846-1907 buried in Birmingham Jasper Archie 1847-1910 buried in Birmingham

His widow was named Hannah J. A witness (estate? will?)was named James Hodges. Does anyone know the maiden name of Hannah? Is this the same James Hodges who married Patsey Brooks in 1824? I am trying to determine if this Hannah is perhaps my missing ancestor who was once married to Arthur Brooks.

    3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/441 Surname: MILLER ------------------------- I really don't know about this. The Millers from Limestone Co. AL that went to AR settled north of Sevier CO. in what is NOW Yell Co. AR, originally Scott Co. prior to 1840. Some of these Millers were also in Giles Co. TN before coming to AR....pre 1820.

    2. Tony Pope
    3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/440 Surname: Smith, Todd, Lewis, Howard ------------------------- SMITH, TODD - I am looking for information about Monroe Smith of Limestone County, Alabama. He was born abt. 1869 and was married at three times. First wife was B. Howard and know he had at least two children from this marriage: Samuel Smith and Tassie Smith. 2nd wife was Mary Jane Todd (my g. grandmother). They had four children: Gussie Smith, Lula Mae Smith (b. 1899), Goldie Lee Smith(b. 1900), and Viola Smith(b. 1907). Sometime after Viola was born Mary Jane left Monroe and took their four children and caught a ferry or boat. Mary Jane's father (John Todd) met them at some point. Mary Jane ended up settling around Boaz, Alabama and remarried to a George Hooper. Lula Mae and Viola ended up marrying their step-brothers. Not much is known about Monroe. I did find him listed in the 1920 Soundex for Limestone County. Do know that his daughter Tassie did locate Viola (sometime in the in the late 1920's or early 1930's) and was arranging for Viola to go and meet him, but he died before this could happen. I am assuming he was still in Limestone County. Goldie Lee Smith (my grandmother) married Dewey Samson Brown of Walker County, Georgia on January 31, 1926 and lived the rest of her life there before passing away on July 28, 1996. Would appreciate any information about Monroe or best place to locate more info. about him or his descendents. Monroe divorced Mary Jane several years after she had left him in 1913 and remarried the same year to Okalonie Lewis. She had a few children already. Believe Monroe and Okalonie had one child together. Monroe's daughter Tassie married a Joe Lewis, believed to be Okalonie's brother.

    3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/439 Surname: MILLER, LOCKE ------------------------- My African American Locke ancestors apparently migrated to Sevier County, Arkansas with Lockes and Millers. Parmelia Miller (know as Aunt Kit) migrated to Arkansas with her slave Eliza or "Liz" where she married J.F. Locke. Liza is believed to be the mother of Eli Locke, our great grandfather. The Lockes maintained a hotel in DeQueen, Arkansas--and Eliza worked for them as a slave and in later years as a servant at the hotel. Eli also worked for the Lockes after slavery ended Is Parmelia of your group---I know she joined a married sister in Arkansas. Have you come across any deeds, will, other documents that mention slaves att. to the Miller family in Limestone County, Alabama? I know that the Locke's migrated to Alabama from Rowan County, North Carolina---perhaps the Millers did too--I don't know. 3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/434 Surname: MILLER, GARRETT, HUDSPETH ------------------------- Seeking possible parentage of several Millers found in early Limestone CO. AL records that are probably siblings--Ruth Miller m. Charles Garrett and William Hudspeth Miller m. Matilda Morgan. Both of these families were in Yell Co. AR. prior to 1850, and members of both families came to Llano-Burnet Co. TX, Colorado River area, in the early 1850's where they remained. According to later pensions filed, William Hudspeth Miller lived across the state line in Giles Co. TN area as late as 1830 where son William Carter Miller was born. I have also found evidence of a man named CARTER HUDSPETH in early AL records, which I feel sure will tie into the family somewhere. Both the Garretts and Millers seem to have earlier connections to N.C. prior to coming to AL, then to AR/TX. Karylon A. Russell, Box 823, Llano, TX 78643 [email protected]

    3. Posted on: Limestone County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Al/Limestone/433 Surname: GARRETT, MILLER, PEDERSON ------------------------- Interested in any information on the Isaac and Charles Garrett (presumed to be brothers)families who were in Limestone Co. area pre 1840. Charles married Ruth MILLER in this county. Isaac also m. Elizabeth Pederson, assumed to be a daughter of local minister, John, but it is believed this was his second marriage as it is believed he had a son named Merrill Simpson froma previous marriage. Isaac and Merrill Simpson are found living in the home of Charles and Ruth Garrett in Yell Co. AR in 1850. Charles and Ruth are still in Yell CO. 1860--no sign of Isaac, but Merrill Simpson has already gone to Texas and is found in Llano CO. TX in 1860, where he resides until his death.
