ALLCHIN who lived in Waller or Austin county, Texas, USA. April 4, 1888, as some stories relate it, Steven W. ALLCHIN of Hempstead, Waller county, Texas, USA, placed an article in the local paper, the Advance Guard, critical of Waller county sheriff Thomas Sewell McDADE and his deputies. One or more of McDade's deputies confronted Allchin. Gunfire broke out and Allchin was wounded but he managed to kill deputy sheriff Richard C. Chambers (McDade's son-in-law). On May 20, a second deputy, Jack McDade and another man killed Steven Allchin. Allchin left a wife and daughter. He had operated a dray line in Waller and surrounding counties.
