    2. Sam Allchin
    3. This is my first posting to the list. I am related to the ALLCHIN family of Dartford, Sutton at Hone and Swanley village in Kent. I am particularly looking for marriage of two John Allchin's to Ann and Anne. The first one would be about l740 and the other about l770. They had their children in Dartford. Names researching connected with Allchin are MILLIS WHITMAN CHAPMAN SCUDDER ATKINS Would love to hear from anyone researching the Allchin families of Kent. Best Regards, Sue from Hastings. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Version: 6.0.250 / Virus Database: 123 - Release Date: 18/04/01

    1. [ALLCHIN] Alchins in Kent
    2. Maureen Rawson
    3. Hi I am descended from Thomas Alchin who was miller of Leybourne and died in 1702. He had 4 sons Thomas, Henry, Anthony and Richard mentioned in his will but I haven't found baptisms for them yet. They may have been born in the 1640-60 gap in the records. Thomas married twice and was buried 1717 of New Barns, West Malling. Henry married Mary Alchin at Meopham in 1682 and was buried at Leybourne in 1720. Anthony had at least 2 sons Anthony and Thomas, but had died by 1701. Richard married Rachel and was buried in 1739 of Rays, West Malling. Henry and Mary had 5 sons, John 1687, Henry 1688, Thomas 1689, Anthony 1696 and Richard 1699, also 3 daughters. Anthony was living in Whitehall, Mdx in 1727. Richard was my ancestor. I haven't found his marriage to Jane but they had 4 children baptised at West Malling: Mary 1732, Jane 1734 (my ancestor), Richard 1735/6 and Henry 1738-9. Richard died in 1738 and Jane remarried in 1740. My Alchins can be found at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/~mrawson I would like to hear from anyone connected to this family. Also anything about Alchins in the area in the 1600s. Maureen Rawson Email: MRawson@roadrunner.nf.net Web Site on genealogy sources for Kent, England: http://home.thezone.net/~mrawson/

    2. Stephen Jones
    3. Welcome to the Allchin list! This list was started on 6 May 2001 and it already has two subscribers. I expect more subscribers to join up in the next few weeks. Spread the word! I will report back on the number of subscribers as the list expands. All the Allchin spelling variations are welcome. One aim of this list is to help subscribers identify spelling variations and perhaps prove the links between different branches of the family. Is it worth posting interests yet? ~~ Yes, even though the number of subscribers is low. All the list messages are archived and are available for browsing. The Allchin rootsweb page is at http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/a/allchin.html and the list archives can be found linked towards the bottom of the page. Living people - important ~~ don't post details of living people (particularly addresses, telephone numbers). The archives are open to the public and can be accessed by anyone. If you aren't sure if someone in your tree is still living or not, use a 100-year closure and don't post details of any event from later than 1901! Best wishes & Happy Allchin hunting -- Stephen Jones, -- Eng-Surrey, Allchin & Orchin listowner -- steve@dorsetcoast.fsnet.co.uk -- www.melcombe.freeserve.co.uk
