STUTTS: Dr. Henry Stutts is an interesting lead. Many of the Stutts family were Union men: (1) Asa Stutts b 1832 Green Hill was a USV soldier; (2) George Washington Stutts served in USV, 18th MO Regmt; (3) Henry B. Stutts, b 1827, was Unionist as validated by his SCC claim and as witness for his Unionist father, (4) Jacob "Drummer" Stutts, b 1803; (5) John Ritter "Red Jack" Stutts b 1829, is said to have been a Neutral/Lay-out with Unionist leaning; (6) Samuel L. Stutts b 1842, USV, 18th MO Regmt; (7) Walter F. Stutts, b 1841, USV, Sgt, 2nd TN Mtd Inf; (8) William B. Stutts b 1820, Unionist per SCC claim; (9) William M. "Uncle Billy" b 1798, disputed as to whether Unionist or CSA; like many may have been on both sides during the war with a mid-course change of loyalty ??? I had the good fortune to work around Jim Stutts, Superintendant, out at the Armour/US Steel Fertilizer Works in Cherokee AL during the 1962-1963 period, and know part of this family to be "top-drawer". If anyone on the board has a good STUTTS family Civil War story, would like to know of it. Joel S.
