I am trying to find the parents of a Howell McClain. He is listed on the 1880 census for Lauderdale Co. living with a (Howell) Jackson Rayburn as his nephew. He was three years old at the time. There is also a Wilson McClain and a Mattie Rayburn who were married in 1880 on this census. I believe that this is John Wilson McClain, who was Howell McClain's father (he went by Wilson and Mack McCklain). However, I do not know If this Mattie Rayburn was his mother as they were just married in 1880 and Howell was born in 1877. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who knows of these McClain's or Rayburns. Their families all originated in TN. Thanks Charlotte McClain Christensen
